J M Smith Awarded as Most Ethical Company

RxMedic's Parent Company Among World's Most Ethical Companies

Raleigh, NC – RxMedic’s parent company, the J M Smith Corporation, is named to the 2010 list of World’s Most Ethical Companies. The survey is researched and compiled by the Ethisphere Institute, an organization that started compiling the list four years ago.

“The competition for the World’s Most Ethical Companies was the strongest it has ever been, with a record number of organizations vying for this distinguished honor,” said Alex Brigham, Executive Director of the Ethisphere Institute.
The J M Smith Corporation joins more than two dozen first time recipients, including Ford Motor Company, Adobe Systems, and Campbell Soup Company.

“We have always taken pride in doing the right thing,” said Bill Cobb, J M Smith CEO. “It is certainly an honor to be recognized for a philosophy that has driven our company for decades.”
The Ethisphere Institute looked at companies in more than 100 countries and 36 industries. The methodology for the World’s Most Ethical Companies includes reviewing codes of ethics, litigation and regulatory infraction histories; evaluating the investment in innovation and sustainable business practices; looking at activities designed to improve corporate citizenship; and studying nominations from senior executives, industry peers, suppliers and customers.
All of the J M Smith Corporation’s divisions played a role in the overall ranking to make the 2010 World’s Most Ethical Companies list.

“We are pleased to join the ranks of other South Carolina companies who made the list, including Milliken and Company and Fluor,” Cobb added.

The J M Smith Corporation made the ranking under the Healthcare category.
